Innovation

To capture customer imagination and revenue—and retain your competitive advantage—you need to continually generate innovative new offerings. Public policies that protect incentive systems, such as intellectual property rights, and support research and development not only benefit you, they benefit the economy and your customers. That’s why VFI supports:

  • Intellectual property (IP) rights. Software developers deserve to reap the rewards of their hard work and ingenuity, free from piracy and copyright infringement. System integrators depend on the protection of patents and trade secrets to succeed and grow. All of us in the technology industry need public policies that support these time-tested IP rights—rights that incent innovation, reward creative risk, and drive long-term investment in the technology industry.

  • Internet security laws, enforcement, and awareness. The Web presents a tremendous opportunity to offer new applications and services that extend your portfolio and profitability. The new era of software and services will benefit from a solid public policy foundation that offers consumer protections but does not impede choice or competition. Public policies that help ensure a more secure information technology infrastructure and minimize customer risk—including effective Internet crime laws, adequate enforcement capacity, and enhanced public   awareness—are essential to public safety, a strong economic future, and global security. And to protecting you and your customers’ investments.

  • Research and development incentives. Whether your research and development efforts are modest or massive, public policies that support utting-edge technology innovations through tax credits and programmatic funding can help speed your solutions to customers—for increased revenue and shorter sales cycles.
