Obama CTO--Is Tomorrow the Day?

There is speculation that tomorrow could be the day that President-elect Obama will name the Chief Technology Officer.  As noted on the VFI Blog Watch, BBC News' Maggie Shiels suggested this yesterday on her blog.  The names that are being discussed include Microsoft's Steve Ballmer, Google's Eric Schmidt and Vint Cerf, Amazon's Jeff Bezos and even Apple's Steve Jobs.  There are also suggestions that the person will come from academia rather than corporate.  Whomever it is, they will have a full plate based on what the Obama Administration has laid out as its technology agenda

Throughout the campaign, we have been interested in what members think should be the technology policy priorities of the Obama Administration.  Based on your feedback, we have compiled the VFI 2009 Technology Policy Agenda.  Please consider signing your name to the Agenda so you can let the new CTO and the Administration what you think should be emphasized in technology.

It doesn't appear that the adminstration is any closer to naming a CTO today then the were three weekes ago.  The speculation, however continues to swirl in the tech community.  There's a great article on Beta News which covers the speculation.
