Sunday, people around the world are celebrating World IP Day, on VFI and elsewhere. The U.S. Department of State marked the occasion with this statement:
On World Intellectual Property Day, the
Department of State joins the international community in celebrating
the creativity and innovation that bring about a better life for all,
as well as the recognition and protection of intellectual property
rights that help make this possible.
This year’s theme,
“Promoting Green Innovation,” emphasizes the intellectual property
system’s role in advancing the development of green technologies and
eco-friendly products that support a healthy environment and promote
sustainable agricultural and economic development.
As we work
to address global challenges such as the current international economic
crisis, climate change and clean energy, we must redouble our efforts
to encourage and protect intellectual property rights and foster a
robust environment for global innovation.
You can symbolically show your support too by clicking here to join the VFI virtual IP Day Celebration. Organizations, policy makers, and many interested parties continue to examine the importance of IP in our technological age -- and consider ways to reform IP policies. We'll continue to keep VFI members informed on this issue.
