Transparency at the expense of results?

I’ve been reading up on some of the conversations at Voices for Economic Recovery (see August 10th post by Stuart McKee announcing the community).  There was an interesting comment posted on one of the discussions on Recovery Act spending:

“Has the rush to improve transparency within our Federal Government taken our focus away from the ultimate goal of performance?”

Transparency seemed to be the mantra just a few months ago, but the tide appears to be shifting towards results. Simply knowing where the money is going isn’t cutting it anymore.

With all of the data and information out there we are beginning to look for tools to help us make sense of it all.

There are a number of great conversations going on around transparency and how to provide meaningful results. New tools to help us make sense of it all are coming online each day.  I’m interested to hear about the ones you’ve found.  Share any tips, tools or interesting conversations in the comments below.
