Over the last several weeks, Voices for Innovation has focused on the healthcare debate and health IT. Stuart McKee wrote an "Ask the NTO" blog post, "Growing Health IT Momentum," and we have had a strong membership response to our healthcare reform and health IT poll. Please take the poll if you have not already done so.

In a few weeks, we will shift our issue focus to "Open Government," and include blogs and articles on this topic. There is already a fair amount of content related to this topic on the VFI website, including:

• Intersections article, "A New Emphasis on Open Government: Microsoft’s Dan Kasun Talks about Public Sector Opportunities for Partners."
• Policy paper, "Building the Societal Network: How Governments Can Connect People, Technology and Resources to Help Society Thrive" (and an Executive Summary version).
• Blog, "White House Finally Issues Open Government Directive -- First Impressions."

The goals of Open Government are admirable, but it would be a mistake for policymakers to equate the goals and ideals of this initiative with the technologies that can make it happen. We'll be diving deeper into policies surrounding Open Government, including questions concerning procurement, technology choice, support for intellectual patents, and more.
