VFI Leaders Urge the FCC to Support TV White Spaces Broadband

|

Earlier this week, leaders of Voices for Innovation filed a joint comment with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) urging Commissioners to preserve three channels of TV white spaces spectrum for use by innovative, long-distance broadband technology. You can read VFI’s letter, as well as examples that highlight why TV white spaces broadband is needed to connect the 34 million Americans who lack access to affordable, reliable internet.

TV white spaces broadband has enormous potential to transform rural communities. It will open up educational opportunities, foster business growth, and allow Americans everywhere to benefit from cloud computing innovation. Before this can happen, the FCC must act to preserve three TV white spaces channels in every U.S. market.

My company, AvePoint, supports this effort. AvePoint provides an innovative cloud software, Citizen Services, that improves government operations. TV white spaces broadband will help rural governments serve their communities with our technology, as well as many other cloud-based services. Expanded broadband access will also create opportunities for AvePoint and other tech companies across the country.

If you’re the leader of a tech or small business, I encourage you to add your name to this letter. We want to demonstrate to the FCC that there is broad business support for closing the digital divide that holds back too many American communities.
