President Trump issued his long-anticipated National Cyber Strategy as well as an Executive Order (EO) focused on combating cybercrime, fraud, and predatory schemes. The Cyber Strategy includes six pillars focused on streamlining regulation, securing government networks and critical infrastructure, and building our nation’s cyber talent pipeline, among others. On a parallel track with the President’s cybercrime EO, House and Senate members introduced the bicameral, bipartisan AI Fraud Accountability Act, aimed at helping to protect consumers from AI-based scams. VFI will be monitoring this bill as it advances.

This Week in Washington
- Business Insider: The Senate has approved the use of Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and Gemini in official use, according to a recent memo. The memo recommended that staff use Copilot due to its integration with existing Microsoft 365 tools.
- Nextgov: A General Services Administration report revealed that less than 40% of public government webpages meet accessibility standards. Agencies cited a lack of resources and limited training as reasons for their inaccessibility.
- Politico: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating a hack of its surveillance system, according to a disclosure to Congress. The suspicious activity began on February 17. The FBI has not yet identified the source or impacts of the hack, but continues to investigate.
- Axios: Cyberattacks on healthcare systems have gotten increased attention in Congress following the 2024 Change Healthcare attack and last month’s disruptive ransomware incident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The Senate advanced legislation that would improve coordination and provide grants to help health entities plan for cyberattacks.

- Fierce Healthcare: Microsoft launched Copilot Health, an AI assistant for healthcare. The tool will allow consumers to create a comprehensive health profile, prepare for doctor’s appointments, and integrate their medical records through a secure system. The new tool will be released through a phased rollout.
