In April, Voices for Innovation leader and President of the Chicago Chapter of the International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners (IAMCP) John Nicolau met with U.S. Representative Peter Roskam (R-IL-6).

Near the end of their April meeting, John asked Rep. Roskam to speak with a group of Chicago-area technology professionals at an IAMCP chapter meeting. Roskam jumped at the opportunity—and the meeting took place this week, on June 25.

Speaking to the IAMCP chapter, Rep. Roskam highlighted some of his priorities, which include supporting stronger education and small business growth. Rep. Roskam noted that despite headlines about divisions in Washington, members of Congress work across party lines on many issues.

The event also provided time for Q&A, and meeting participants discussed issues facing the tech industry, such as cybersecurity and digital privacy. One line of discussion focused on the recent implementation of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Afterwards, Rep. Roskam spent time informally meeting attendees.

Voices for Innovation thanks John, his company ZLan Partners (a Sharp IT company), and IAMCP Chicago for putting together this valuable event. John has done a great job educating Rep. Roskam and his staff on tech policy issues and helping build Voices for Innovation.
