Bipartisan Group Launches with Mission to Support Workforce Transition to AI

One June 25, a national organization called RAISE US launched to help American workers adapt to changes being brought by AI. With $500 million in seed funding, the group will pilot educational partnerships in Arkansas, Connecticut, Maryland, and Utah. It will also operate a Policy Lab that develops data-driven policy recommendations that promote worker retraining and redeployment.

The bipartisan group is led by Gina Raimondo, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce and Governor of Rhode Island, and Eric Holcomb, former Governor of Indiana. RAISE UP is supported by numerous foundations and leading tech companies, including Microsoft. Coverage can be found in the NY Times and Politico.

Presidential Memo Calls for Greater Use of AI in National Security

President Trump recently issued a national security memorandum that calls on the military and national security agencies to accelerate their use of AI to enhance operations and maintain a technical advantage over adversaries. The memo calls for government collaboration with AI companies to speed access to advanced AI models, while also cautioning against the use of AI for unauthorized or unlawful surveillance. White House Issues Executive Order on AI Frontier Models

In early June, President Trump signed a much-anticipated Executive Order (EO) establishing a framework for the federal government to review AI frontier models for cybersecurity risks. The EO calls on AI companies to voluntarily share models for testing by federal agencies 30 days before public release. The review will focus on cybersecurity and national security, but does not establish specific licensing, permitting, or safety rules. The full text of the EO can be found here.
